When the weather is good there are lots of outdoor pursuits in and around Crosshouse from walking to cycling to bird-watching and golf there are fantastic natural resources for your enjoyment.
Take a walk to visit Scotland's oldest surviving railway viaduct built in 1811. Only 10 minutes from Crosshouse the Laigh Milton Viaduct crosses the River Irvine where you can enjoy fishing and walking.
Join the Cunningham Cycleway at Knockentiber only 10 minutes cycle from Crosshouse. This is a largely traffic free cycle path which connects Kilmarnock and Ardrossan and is great for bird watching and walking also. This path is part of National Cycle Route 73 which is maintained by Sustrans details and maps can be found at their web site

This is an 18 hole public golf course which is located a 5 minute drive from Crosshouse. There is also a children's play area and a walled garden which is open in Summer months which you can view on WikiMapia. The Dean Castle sits on a 200 acre country park located on Dean Road in Kilmarnock. There is a castle in the grounds which is free to visit. There is also a children's play area, pets corner a visitors centre and tea room. For up to date opening times and events visit the Dean Castle website.

8 miles from Crosshouse Eglinton Country Park is a 988 acre park situated on the grounds of the old Eglinton Castle. The park has a visitors centre, cycle and bridle paths, play areas for children and a loch stocked with coarse fish which is popular with anglers and bird watchers.
